Jerry Rojo

Performance. Jerry Rojo's background and current interests are in stage
design, directing, architectural theatre design and theatre
consulting. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Connecticut.
He has designed over 140 Off-Broadway, Regional and University stage productions.
His directing projects include developing "built pieces" or the
mise en scene from an ensemble of actors using the psychophysical technique
in a workshop environment. He has consulted or designed some
20 theatre architectural projects for which he has a special expertise
in developing theatre programs from existing spaces. Publications
include books and periodicals in the fields of stage design and psychophysical
performance. As an administrator, he served as
Head of Department/Artistic Director of Theatre in the School of Fine
arts at the University of Connecticut for eight years and
was responsible for leading some 30 faculty and staff in offering
advanced degree and stage production programs at five branch locations.
Honors and citations include the Drama Desk and Obie Awards in NYC
for stage design, and has won invitationals to show his work
in international venues. |
